My employee needed a blessing

I want to share an experience about using the gospel at work and asking for help.

One of my employees needed a major surgery, and as soon as I heard about it, I knew she needed a priesthood blessing to help her. But I had never discussed the church with her, and I didn’t know how to approach her to see if she would accept one.

Several years before, one of my other employees had an emergency C-section. Her son was born very early and weighed only two pounds. At that time I asked her and her husband if they would like her and her baby to get a blessing. She knew a little about the church, and they both agreed.

My bishop and I went in and gave her a blessing in the ICU and then gave her little son a blessing in the NICU. She always jokes that I saw her son before she did! She has commented several times that her baby recovered and had very few complications while she watched several babies who were bigger and had been in the womb longer die or have severe problems.

I asked her if she would go and explain a priesthood blessing to our other employee. She did, and then I also printed off an explanation for her to read.

After reading and listening about priesthood blessings, my employee agreed to have a blessing. I was going out of town and asked her if it was okay if we had the missionaries stop by and give it. She said she would be honored to have them give the blessing.

The missionaries went by and did a great job. She said it was a very emotional experience for her. Her surgery went very well.

She told me today that her husband had joined the church as a teenager and had not been in a long time. She also said the missionaries stopped by to talk with him, and they had a great conversation. And now the missionaries have an appointment to return and teach her and her husband together!

I cannot believe how good this whole experience has made me feel. I can feel that my Father in Heaven is pleased with me for opening my mouth. He had prepared this couple and was waiting for me to do my simple part.
